Just about everybody who owns a heavily used shower is able to see that shower curtains will sometimes become quite dirty and unattractive. The more members of a family using a particular shower, the worse this problem could be. We are going to be discussing a really great way to clean such a curtain so if this problem is currently plaguing your bathroom, it could be in your best interest to pay attention.

While a great deal of vinyl made curtain products are actually quite durable, they should still be approached for cleaning in a very gentle way to maintain a nice appearance. Only consider using the standard type of scrubbing style sponge that most people already have plenty of access to in their homes. Avoid harsher cleaning tools, as they might scratch the product.

The first step for cleaning the curtain is the hardest one for some people, and this would be to remove the curtain from the rod where it is attached to the shower. After this, you are going to have to pick a flat, hard, surface to completely spread the curtain out on. Use the sponge that we discussed to carefully scrub the dirty areas in a circular motion applying as much pressure as necessary.

Some people have come to learn, that when you own a curtain for a very long time, you might have to run it through the washing machine every once in a while. Depending on the design of your product, it is more than likely okay to use a little bit of detergent and possibly bleach as well. Run the machine on low with cool water. Never put a curtain in the dryer. This is unnecessary and could damage it.

Most people already own a bottle or two of hydrogen peroxide, this is a very good thing because that mixture happens to work very well for removing stains when applied directly to them. Consider always starting out with the use of only water first. If there are some tough stains, feel free to apply the peroxide directly to them, making sure to carefully rinse the chemical from your curtain when you are done.

If a person uses a curtain over and over again, for many years, they will sometimes have tears, or other damaging occurrences that take place. Many retailers are flooding the marketplace with specially designed kits that can repair tears that are commonly found within a vinyl curtain. Shop around a bit for a kit that meets your budget.

After learning about how to properly clean those much appreciated vinyl shower curtains, the reader might be ready to give it a shot. Remember to practice, as this skill will grow with time and continued effort.
